4/8/2010 - Ohio EPA Records Reveal that Ashta Chemicals’ Plant Lost 415 Pounds of Mercury

Dear Reader,

This is an event tracker to follow the Hillsborough County Paladin 2014 Investigation, 2014 Florida Department of Health

The Hillsborough County, FLORIDA Department of Health conducted a 2014 investigation into complaints stemming from Strawberry Growers Fields making them sick.  Reference materials "Screen Captures" attached below.

Before I start please let me share . . . .

PER the U.S. EPA ____NOTHING____ is to be mixed with Arkema's PALADIN also known as DMDS which is Dimethyl Disulfide.  Yet, Mr. Horvath Arkema's representative has been found to state in articles Chloropicrin is being mixed with Paladin and goes so far as to be quoted by the article recommending Chloropinrin added to PALADIN.  Remember PALADIN is Dimethyl Disulfide.

Chloropicrin is CANCER CAUSING and Florida Pesticides has screen captured this information for your review....click here and click here

Referring to the Florida Department of Health here is the screen capture to prove PALADIN is being mixed with ASHTA Chemical Inc. "Chloropicrin"

I was reviewing this article
  • Hillsborough County Paladin Investigation, 2014 Florida Department of Health LINK
Referring to Page 2, 5th Paragraph

From the Florida DOH Paladin Investigation 2014
Quote: "The Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Paladin and ASHTA Gold™ (99% Chloropicrin, a chemical used along with Paladin) were used to identify the potential health effects."

I thought the Florida DOH article was interesting where it made mention of the 2 pesticides but in my opinion only focused on the Paladin a/k/a DMDS a/k/a Dimethyl Disulfide BUT pointed out the ASHTA Gold™ 99% Chloropicrin

PER the U.S. EPA (Yvette Hellyer - Biologist at USEPA - hellyer.yvette@epa.gov 202-564-4033 Ariel Rios Building, 2249A, Washington, DC 20460) DMDS (Dimethyl Disulfide/Arkema's PALADIN) is NOT to be mixed with Anything.
Picture
Referring to the above photo does this PROVE Arkema's Paladin/DMDS/Dimethyl Disulfide is being mixed with Chloropicrin? Both Restricted Use Pesticides?

An Eagle's Nest

Tracked for 35 years where the last 2 years the Eagles have had no successful offspring.

2nd hand description as it was expressed, "the Eagle's shriek cry over the loss of her baby."

I get goosebumps to think as a Momma and no baby how horrifying where every 33 years before the last 2 years they have produced an offspring.
I got ahead of myself.

How I found Oceana....

Researching ASHTA Gold™ 99% Chloropicrin

I put in the Google Search Engine, "ASHTA Chemicals" and the Oceana's article came up as highlighted below.

"it’s likely that much if not all of this “lost” mercury was emitted into Ohio’s air" ????.............

Without sending myself into a fit of panic let me explain.
According to the Florida DOH Paladin, 2014 Investigation

____The final step during the investigation

____ The Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Paladin and ASHTA Gold™ (99% Chloropicrin, a chemical used along with Paladin)

____were used to identify the potential health effects.

____Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Paladin
____and
____ASHTA Gold™ (99% Chloropicrin
____ a chemical used along with Paladin

PER the U.S. EPA (Yvette Hellyer - Biologist at USEPA - Pesticides and Tanks Enforcement BranchChemical Enforcement Division - hellyer.yvette@epa.gov) DMDS (Dimethyl Disulfide/Arkema's PALADIN) is NOT to be mixed with Anything.
This Signage is from Dover FLORIDA where the Farmer is using Arkema's Paladin with Chloropicrin as a fumigant to sterilize the soil before planting the strawberries.
Picture
There are a few family, myself included getting sick and I find it interesting we all live around strawberry farmers.  I have seen the haze that comes off these fields plus I have heard the stories of people driving through these hazes and getting instantly sick.

Pictures AFTER the farmers fumigating using the Paladin with Chloropicrin....

Ashta Chemicals Inc.
____Chloropicrin
____with Mercury????
Picture
This really concerns me and imo would explain for me why I have been so sick.  When I told Yvette Helluer in the water samples I received back the mercury was elevated and she told me that couldn't possible be from the Paladin.

Referring to photos attached proving Farmers are using Telone C-35 or straight Chloropicrin.

Is there a way to find out if Ashta Chemicals is supplying farmers here in our area with Chloropicrin or any of their chemicals for that matter?

Thank you for your time and my apologies for the lengthy email.  Anything you can do to help I promise and I speak from myself to help Oceana because I am tired of my family and I being sick over these Restricted Use Pesticides where the farmers (imo) DO NOT Educate them selves before applying this stuff to the food where Plant City is the "Winter Capital of the World".  Very sad :(  I keep thinking and wondering Is mercury being spread across the Globe?

One more thing here is the Florida DOH article disected for a quick glance http://floridapesticides.weebly.com/fl-health-department-hillsborough-county.html  I put the screen captures in a slide show.

Picture
Referring back to Oceana's article and quote, "For the past three years, Ashta Chemicals reported to the U.S. EPA that it emitted no fugitive mercury into the air."
Oceana article was written in 2010 (ADD 3 Years) that is about the time frame families started getting sick 2013 !!!!
Picture
Referring back to Oceana's article and quote, "Oceana challenged these findings with its own air monitoring, which suggested the plant was in fact emitting mercury, and those findings are corroborated by the company’s report to the Ohio EPA.  These reports reveal that the company has carelessly handled and tracked its toxic mercury, which threatens public health.
